Kids Bedroom Furniture
72Choosing furniture for your child or children’s bedroom is a difficult, yet also potentially very fun experience. The first thing you need to do is consider budget, space and needs. These three go hand in hand. So, they all need considered at alongside one another.
A parent or car giver needs to consider what their finances can allow for as well as what the child or children need. In a small space with one child, a combination futon bunk bed is great. It’s a bed up top and a couch below that can make a second bed for sleep overs. Most come in very clean lines that go with any decor. Look for sturdy construction, solid wood and well done hardware.
Single beds or day beds are a good answer as well. If the child in residence has the need for additional sleep space due to new fosters, siblings or friends, day beds can be amended by trundles. Trundles allow for their storage under the primary sleep space and convenient placement when needed. Kids bedroom furniture can last for years, so getting something adaptable is a good idea. Just remember though that kids are prone to eventually outgrow their twin beds, so there are pros and cons. The pro is a set of twin beds can be split between different rooms if needed, while they can also be put back together to form a king sized bed. The con is that eventually a kid is going to become a young adult and will need at least a double to have the space to sprawl out.
Kids are rough on furniture s a rule. Especially on storage space. Most any big block store offers very affordable storage units with drawers. Kids understand how to use drawer space better than overall organization. These simple, inexpensive units help keep order, buffer a child’s self esteem, while creating little financial investment. A great aspect of this is that those plastic or simple construction unit can be easily cleaned. In a household with more children, hey can be emptied as the older child can be held responsible for more expensive furniture, washed and serviced in preperation for the next child down.
Just remember that children need durable furnishings in their room. While as the adult, you are responsible for them, they may do damage that you may not discover straight away. Make sure what you buy is rugged and capable of holding its value.
Double Bunk Beds
Getting enough space in a kids bedroom is tough, and as they get older a single bed doesn't have enough room for them to sprawl out and the need a double bed. This eats up yet more space. One solution that has proven popular is the bunk bed concept where top is a double bed and below is a desk. Such beds are normally made out of strong metal in order to support the weight and have a good sized work station below where they can work, study or play.
Kids Bedroom Furniture in Black
Many kids want something stylish, especially once they become teenagers and start to develop some style consciousness. The ideal thing in this case is some designs that every teen will like the second they set eyes on it, with good solid design, plenty of storage, and best of all can go with any color scheme they choose, black bedroom furniture is ideal in many cases, but it is a bit of a dust magnet.
Solid Wood Bedroom Furniture
When deciding to get furniture, there are many questions about what it's going to go with. Solid wood furniture works very well in the bedroom, and goes with practically anything. As your child advances in years their tastes will change and adapt as new fashions and ideas reach them. For that reason a good solid piece of plain furniture is a good bet. As the years progress it will still match with whatever it is that they have at the time. And worst case scenario means once it's old and just about done it can be painted to revitalize it.
Kids Bedroom Furniture in White
The other option is white bedroom furniture which also goes with practically any color and has been a timeless classic when it comes to furnishing bedrooms of everything from kids to teens to young adults. The good thing about white furniture is it's doesn't attract dust as badly as black does. Or if it does, you can't see it the same. It still has the big advantage of going with most colour schemes, and is particularly well suited to pastel and muted colours, but still goes along with bright ones.

I used to have a bunk bed set up with the futon couch. It did serve for many purposes. Great hub! Very informative.
Nice hub on kids bedroom furniture. We used to have trundle beds (which was great), but I always wanted a twin over full bunk.

My kids have a lo-line bunk in their room - an L shape bunk, where the top one is only a metre or so above the floor. My four year old sleeps on the bottom with her head end out from under the top bunk (and she's small enough that that means all of her really). We have had a few bumped heads, but it feels safer than having a full size bunk when she's still so young, and allows us to fit them both in the room, without sacrificing *all* the floor space to beds, so we can fit some other kids bedroom furniture in there too.
